Adrift at sea away from the lonely harbor
I see your beacon even as I float away
My legs itch to kick and arms to swim
A heart is heavier than you think
Nails bloodied from hanging on to the rocks
They cut and scarred me in ways that will never heal
I no longer crave dry land under my feet
All that is left is a soul needing to be calm
The waves gently pull me away from you
The North Star shines brightly in the night
Happiness was turbulent as a storm
Saddness has brought me peace
Tomorrow the sun will rise
Your beacon will fade
The blood will have washed away
Salt will heal my wounds
You poured it liberally
An uncertain future cannot erase
A shameful past
And the love that we left behind
Was never meant to last
Tomorrow you will awake on dry land
And I will drown in my tears
